About the Author
Steve Anderson is a PGA Master Professional and is the Director of Instruction at River Hall Country Club in Ft. Myers, Florida. River Hall was designed by Davis Love III and is managed by Hampton Golf whose president is MG Orender, the former president of the PGA of America. In 2000 Steve was awarded the Teacher of the Year from the Southwest Florida PGA and has twice been placed on Golf Magazine's "Top Teachers in America" list. Anderson has been featured on The Golf Channel and ESPN and hosted his own golf segment on NBC-TV in SW Florida. Anderson has written more than 450 articles on the golf swing, which have been featured in Golf Digest, Golf World, USA Today and PGA Magazine. He has expert certification in club fitting and is a Callaway Professional Staff member. From 1992-96 Anderson headed up the Ken Venturi Golf Training Center on Hilton Head Island, SC and also served as an apprentice at the prestigious Isleworth C.C. in Orlando, home of Tiger Woods. Anderson works with many leading professional, amateur and college players in the U.S. and around the world. In 2009 gave his 40,000th lesson since turning professional in 1980. Same as before, but with better photos

This book is one of the best for left-handed golfers. There is a lot of detail and information. This version is basically the same book that was printed in 2001. The big difference is that the photos are in color and illustrate the author's words better. The author could have taken the time and rewritten some of the text, for example, the photo is a male but the text is talking about a "she", which applies to the photo in the first version.

There is a chapter where he talks about golf aids that he likes.

A good book but it needs editing.

This is a must book for left handed golfers. It builds from the basics from setup to swing for all clubs. It includes some great strategy for actually playing the game. I've summarized key ideas on flash cards to keep in my golf bag whenever I need to review an instruction.

Amazing Rollercoaster Ride

I first read it on Reddit, and it just captured my attention to the point where I forgot my surroundings and it was as if I had become part of the strory itself. I was unable to turn away, I needed to know more and once I did.... it was as if the whole world just shattered.
There is a quote "That moment when you finish a book, look around, and realize that everyone is just carrying on with their lives as though you didn't just experience emotional trauma at the hands of a paperback." That is ecactly how I felt when I read this, it's such amazing story telling.

Beautifully Haunting!

When I first read this on Reddit, I was completely blown away and very creeped out by this short-story online series. And now that it has turned into a novel, I can't wait to read it over and over again. Dathan, you are a very talented writer and we are all so happy that you really did turn this into a novel.

This is definitely a must read for all, just be prepared to have nightmares afterwards ;)

Works better online.

I read this story originally on reddit's section for "creepypasta", or scary stories written (usually anonymously) by internet users and posted publicly to read. It had first been published in parts corresponding to the chapters laid out in this book. When the author announced that he would be selling a hard copy of the story with additional material, I was ecstatic. In its original form, Penpal was one of the most unique and exciting horror stories I had read to date, accounting for both "amateur" and "professional" work. I was really impressed honestly and was thrilled to have a chance to keep the story in my permanent collection.

However, Auerbach's expanded edition may succeed in building upon the original work in word count, but his often rambling and incidental additions to the text actually diminishes the story overall. I found myself dragging through the work during sections that had originally captivated my attention online, and while I appreciated the honesty of the narrator's voice, Auerbach's writing skills are simply not strong enough to hold up under the pressure of sustaining the reader's attention during prolonged periods of relative inactivity for the main character.

The underlying plot is incredibly strong, the tension building and suspense is strong (but, I hate to say it again, much stronger in the original text) but the writing is actually fairly average. I actually found that the additions to the text showcased Auerbach's iffy writing ability and drew the reader's attention away from his strong points -- the aforementioned plotting ability and ability to shock and sustain the reader's interest. A sparser writing style really helped him and made him seem like a much stronger writer than he may actually be. I can see an incredible career for him in short story writing (a skill that very few people have), but perhaps prolonged narrative text is something to work on for the time being before seriously attempting to market it again.

The end result is still a better horror tale than most people seem to be producing these days, and his originality should be celebrated, really. The story itself is strong, intriguing and horrifying. As the pieces come together bit by bit, and the reader begins to put the story together, the story elicits genuine terror and surprise. I have not been affected by a story like that in a long time, and I'd love to see where time and some practice leaves this writer.

Wright the Man is Chronicled Here

Wright the man is chronicled here, in one of the two best biographies of the architectural superstar. One would also want to read Brendan Gill's "Many Masks" as a companion to Ms Secrest's treatment of F Ll W - just to get the harmonizing flavors of opinion.

Ms Secrest does magnificent research and shares it in a narrative that flows easily and keeps one's attention. Her information about Wright's family tree, as well as the family background of his wives and Mrs. Cheney, is more thoroughly presented than I have seen elsewhere.

One must not expect a thorough critique of Wright's buildings here -- there are too many works to be considered and there are many other resources, old and new, for such explorations. "In the Nature of Materials" leaps to mind. However, this book does flesh out the man and in some ways dispels some of the outlandish tales and outright fabrications about his life, toward which Wright was oft inclined.

It should be noted that Secrest is one of the Wright biographers who mistakenly limit the contributions of Isabel Roberts, who was a draughtsman/architect in her own right. She defines Roberts' roll simply as: "Isabel Roberts, secretary ". She cannot be faulted too much, having swallowed the red herring presented by Frank Lloyd Wright himself when writing about the Oak Park "...studio adjoining my home, where the work I had then to do enabled me to take in several draughtsmen and a faithful secretary, Isabel Roberts..." In future, Wright biographers would be wise to consult research done by John A. Dalles presented in his article, "The Pathbreaking Legacy of Ryan and Roberts", in "Reflections", the journal of the Historical Society of Central Florida, Summer 2009; pages 8 and 9.

You may wish to read Wright's disingenuous "An Autobiography" (1943) as well as some of the family books - "The Valley of the God-Almighty Joneses: Reminiscences of Frank Lloyd Wright's Sister, by Maginel Wright Barney, 1986, and his son, John Lloyd Wright's "My Father Who Is On Earth", G P Putnam Sons, NY, 1946. But consider this a mostly reliable guide to Mr. Wright's long and theatrical life.

Precious little discussion of Wright's work...

Secrest's "biography" focuses exclusively on the personal life of Wright, and to that end it seems fairly complete. Secrest attempts to explain Wright's inflated sense of self, his drive to succeed and his willingess to use others as means to his ends by reflecting on his Welsh background, his family's history in Wisconsin and his relationships with his immediate family, particularly his mother. My complaint is that Secrest does not carry this analysis over to his architecture - most of his works receive a paragraph or less. I was hoping for a biography of Wright that placed his work in an socio-historical framework as well as accounting for his personality. Secrest briefly mentions how Wright bristled at being called a pre-modernist and how much of a romanticist he was, but she only mentions this to elucidate Wright's personal interactions with others. If you're looking for more info that places Wright's work in a historical or theoretical framework, look somewhere else.
