The book has some very good tips and info on pointillism but it's very, very short. If it was a printed book, I'd say it was no more than 10 pages. I know it says vol 1, but I would think they could've got a lot more in.

Every recipe works

I wasn't expecting much when I borrowed this book from the library. But as soon as I tried one dish, Beef Tomato Curry, I knew I hit a jackpot. Just about every recipe works..and so delicious. The ingredients listed aren't hard to find..especially since I live in the San Francisco area. I ended up going to the copy place and copying the whole cookbook since this book is no longer in print. I did call up the publisher but they have no plans of reprinting. This is the book where I learned proper Chinese cooking techniques. Rhoda Yee explained everything step-by-step. Not only that, but the stories she told of her life and life in the village is so real and heartwarming. These are bonafide authentic Chinese cuisine. To this day, everybody asks me how I make my stir-fried broccoli. They said it's the best broccoli they ever tasted. My husband is so proud of my cooking and embarrassingly tell everyone about it. This little book ranks with my copies of Hazan's Essential of Italian Cooking, Kennedy's Essentials of Mexican cuisine, McDermott's Real Thai and Roden's New Book of middle Eastern Book. If a fire breaks out in my house, God forbid, these books are the ones I'm going to grab first.

Great Cookbook

I originally purchased this cookbook in 1976.
We lived in an area devoid of Chinese Restaurants
and several friends were craving Chinese food.
The receipes were easy to follow and the food
turned out great. Several friends purchased the
book as the result of our dinners. The food took
quite a bit of preparation time but the outcome
was well worth it. I've lost my original copy
and wish it was available now.

William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon in April 1564, and his birth is traditionally celebrated on April 23. The facts of his life, known from surviving documents, are sparse. He died on April 23, 1616, and was buried in Holy Trinity Church, Stratford.

The evils of Iago

"Othello" is sort of a companion piece to "Macbeth" -- both are about noble, upstanding men who are destroyed by their own weaknesses. But where Macbeth was ruined by ambition, Othello's destruction comes from his jealousy and gullibility. And the play is really ruled by the nastiest, cruelest, most devious villain Shakespeare ever wrote.

That villain is Iago, a high-ranking soldier who has a grudge against the noble Moorish soldier Othello, who has just eloped with the beautiful Desdemona. Using a nobleman as his pawn, Iago first turns Desdemona's father against Othello, but the new soldier defends himself agains claims of witchcraft.

But Iago's true plan is far more devious, as he disgraces Othello's lieutenant Cassion and plants Desdemona's handkerchief in Cassio's room. Othello finds himself confronted by a chess game of lies, deceit and suspected infidelity, and his jealousy reaches a fever pitch that can only end in death.

Yeah, the real star of this play is undoubtedly Iago. This is the most repellent mixture of absolute malicious evil and crazy-smart intellect that anyone could write -- he is the person you love to hate, even as you admire how devilishly perfect he is at playing the chessmaster who whispers poison into your ear while playing your "friend." He doesn't quite think of EVERYTHING, but he comes close enough that you would NEVER want to deal with someone like this.

But this tragedy is also underscored by the depiction of Othello, a truly noble and loyal soldier who is turned into a deranged homicidal mess. It's somehow even more disturbing to see him deteriorate than it was to see Macbeth, because this guy was on top of the world in every way -- he was smart, eloquent, a brilliant soldier and a newlywed. And look what happens to him.

And Shakespeare deftly builds up this tragedy with a subtle, interconnecting web of lies and misdirections, with the tension building slowly until something has to blow. His writing is typically powerful, generating some quotable phrases ("It is the green-ey'd monster") and lots of cynical, dark dialogue ("Who would not make her husband a cuckold to make him a monarch?").

"Othello" is a strangely fascinating tragedy, with Shakespeare absorbing us again in the tale of a good man corrupted. Definitely a good, if harrowing play.

About the Author
Morton I. Kamien (1938–2011) helped to build Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Business, where he served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and directed the Heizer Center for Entrepreneurial Studies for nearly 20 years. Nancy L. Schwartz was the Morrison Professor of Decision Sciences, where in 1970 she was the Kellogg School's first woman faculty member appointed to an endowed chair. She chaired the Department of Managerial Economics and Decision Sciences and served as Director of the school's doctoral program until her death in 1981.

A nice reference book

This is a required book for my DO course in economics.

I should admit, however, that having a limited background in mathematics, I do not benefit from this book as much as A. Chiang's *Elements of Dynamic Optimization* and D. Leonard and N. Van Long's *Optimal Control Theory and Static Optimization in Economics* in terms of intuition building. Nevertheless, it is a very nice reference book, written in a clear and rigorous manner, and provides a number of classical and prototype examples.

One thing to mention is that the first part of the book on calculus of variation is not a must-read if the second part of optimal control is what you are interested in, but I would definitely recommend reading the entire book if your intuitions are solid enough.

Concise and well written

This is the best text for dynamic optimization theory in economics that I have used. Explanations are concise and examples are well thought out. Consider this as a supplement to any macro text or a standalone text for a dynamic optimization theory class. Does not really go into numerical solutions/programming.

A Quick and Charmingly Funny Read!

A review copy was provided for an honest review. I will make this short and brief. This was a cute little book that has a bunch of laughs to go with it. It delivers humorous points about why we're all human and I think it's enjoyably entertaining. The fact that it's supposedly told by the charmingly funny Gecko from Geico only makes it even more intriguing. You're Only Human is written with intellect and wit that makes it appealing to anyone looking for a quick, fun read. I wish that it had more text as it's comprised of lots of doodles and illustrations which make up at least 80% of the book itself. Overall it will take you less than an hour to finish and it'll give you a good laugh. It's the perfect book companion for car travel or if you just have some time to kill and are in need of some quirky amusement; this will provide you with that!

Funny and Creative

Have you ever wondered about what happened to all of our nursery rhyme characters? All of the stories ended with "They lived happily ever after" but is that true. Well, according to A. F. Stewart and the story land reporters, along with the story land police, that wasn't really the case.

Do you remember Alice who went to Wonderland? Well, there was a grand wedding of the Mad Hatter and Alice last Sunday. It was a stunning affair, utilizing a red and white wedding theme with a playing card motif. The bride looked dazzling in a crystal encrusted white dress with cap sleeves, offset with a red embroidered sash. Bridesmaids included the bride's sister, the Duchess, and the Cheshire Cat. The best man was the White Rabbit.

Have you ever wondered what ever happened to The Three Little Pigs? Well, according to reporters Spider Bramble and Aurora Gossamer with the Fairyland news, there appears to be a manhunt for the First Little Pig, in connection with a tragic domestic incident that left the other two Pig brothers butchered. A late night dispute, over what seemed to have been long simmering family grievances, went terribly wrong, resulting in the stabbing death of two of the brother Pig.

And what ever happened to the Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe? She went missing fourteen days ago, after apparently suffering a nervous breakdown. This is the latest in a string of mishaps, including her arrest on drug charges and the removal of her children into foster care by Child Services. The Fairyland Police tracked her down and evidently found her trying to make a size 12 Oxford loafer her new home. She is now undergoing psychiatric observation and rehab.

To my surprise, and I'm sure yours too, there apparently wasn't a Happily Ever After for these beloved childhood characters. Fairy Tale Fusion will take you back in memories as you find out what really happened to Red Riding Hood and the Wolf, Tom Piper, Sleeping Beauty and even Beauty and the Beast.

I've read other books written by A. F. Stewart and enjoyed them and this book was just as enjoyable. Her version of these bedtime stories are not exactly great for children but they sure did give me a chuckle and I think it will you too.

A perfect bland of humor, horror, snippets and stories, and fun

If you’ve read Once Upon a Dark and Eerie, by A. F. Stewart, you’ll already have met the newscasters at Fairy Tale News, and you’ll recognize the flavor of this slim volume. The author skillfully intersperses short sharp news snippets (“Mary’s soft wool and yarn... Rumpelstiltskin was apprehended... the wedding of Jack and Jill...”) between longer tales of mystery behind the headlines, and suspense behind the myth. Long-running stories continue after the break with breaking news. The search for the Old Woman Who Lives in a Shoe continues. And Fluffy the Clown reappears with a satisfying picture of his secret.
Fairytales have always had their undertones of horror. Here they have horror and family fun, perfectly blended, and, as the tagline so enticingly declares, “things get messy in the Riding Hood.”

Goldilocks on trial for breaking and entering. Old Mother Hubbard under suspicion for animal abuse.
What happens when reality seeps into your favorite childhood stories and nursery rhymes? Something pretty much along the lines of this book.
Detective Piper has his hands full, what with the Snow Queen crashing Cinderella’s party, among other crimes of the most dastardly type. Not to mention his on-again, off-again relationship with Rose Red, the woodland witch. She, however, has problems of her own, which Piper is only too happy to help her sort out.
Definitely the type of book that answers the reality-based question: “Do they really live happily after in those stories?”
“Fairy Tale Fusion” reminded me a lot of Jasper Fforde’s Nursery Crimes series, and was just as entertaining. I definitely recommend this book.
