The Book that Delivers
By Juan A. Ramos
Okay, so long story short, the book does what it says it does. The first 9 chapters (if memory serves me right) are nothing but vectors, which anyone taking this subject can tell you are the bread and butter of the subject. It goes into some good examples and the only wish I had was that there was an accompanying problem workout book like there is for physics. So far, the book has proved pretty nice, it's quite hefty, but it's a good thing; I love books that put effort between the pages. I highly recommend it to those who are taking a course and have professors whose accent they cannot understand. I've used other books and they are not helpful. The textbook muddles things and the solutions manuals always run short on answers. They skip ahead and don't tell you what that intermediary step is/was. Sometimes that's all you need.

Very good for what it intends to do
By Mike S.
This is a supplement that is meant to either introduce you to the basic concepts you are going to encounter in statics class, or give you a quick refresher on them. It is not an in-depth guide that lays out tons of examples (hence the for dummies name). It is not meant to be that however. The beginning of the book goes through the basics of vectors and the math you need to use to work with them. Basically everything you should remember pretty easily from multivariable calculus and physics. But if you have forgotten some of it, he does go through vector addition, subtraction, cross products, dot products, resolving vectors into components and finding resultants. After you get through that material you start getting into the actual statics material. He goes through the big, main concepts that you will be exposed to, and a lot of tips for how you can identify and solve particular types of problems. He does not go into a lot of technical detail and extremely fine concepts like the Schaum's outlines do, but again that is not the point of this.

In all I would say that this will help you pass, but not necessarily ace statics. It is good if you need a more plain English explanation of a concept and tips for problem solving. Things your textbook probably will not do, and your teacher may or may not do. Definitely worth the purchase though and something you would be likely to keep around long after getting rid of your textbook.

Pretty good
By Steven H.
I only used it for a few concepts I had trouble with but it was pretty good for a supplementary book and would have worked fine if it was your only book.
